PULLMAN – The Palouse Conservation District (PCD), funded by the Washington State Conservation Commission (WSCC), is offering technical and financial assistance to homeowners for wildfire resiliency. This initiative aims to support homeowners in improving their properties’ defenses against wildfires through a variety of measures.
To apply for assistance, homeowners are directed to fill out a Request for Assistance form available on the PCD’s website by February 29th, 2024. The PCD staff will provide services such as home ignition zone risk assessments, hazardous fuels reduction, forest health improvements, and the creation of defensible spaces. Additionally, there is cost-share funding available for the removal of hazardous vegetation.
Priority for this assistance will be given to homeowners in urban-wildland interfaces and rural communities within the PCD boundaries, but all homeowners in Whitman County are eligible to apply. For further details, homeowners can contact the PCD at (509) 553-1858.
