Washington Evergreen Manufacturing Growth Grants for 2023-25 Deadline extended to Jan. 10

OLYMPIA – In a bid to bolster manufacturing and research and development (R&D) job opportunities in Washington state, the Evergreen Manufacturing Growth Grants program has been initiated. This program aligns with the objectives outlined in the Building Economic Strength Through Manufacturing (BEST) Act (HB 1170), which was passed by the state legislature in 2021. The BEST Act sets a target of adding 300,000 new manufacturing jobs within the next decade.

A substantial sum of $2 million is earmarked for grants, with the aim of supporting eligible manufacturing and R&D businesses, as well as organizations identified as innovation clusters in the funding application process. Each successful grantee stands to receive financial support ranging from $200,000 to $400,000.

Applicants are encouraged to highlight their access to capital investment or matching funds, demonstrating a commitment to fostering significant business expansion or pioneering development work. The evaluation of submissions will prioritize their potential to generate manufacturing and R&D jobs, coupled with a strategic alignment with key sectors crucial to the state’s economic landscape. These sectors include aerospace, agriculture, advanced manufacturing, clean technology and renewable energy, creative economy, forest products, information and communications technology, life science, maritime, and defense.

To accommodate potential applicants, the deadline for submissions has been extended. All applications must be received by January 10, 2024
