GRANGEVILLE – A $3.136 million proposal to fund salaries, benefits, educational materials, technology and special education costs throughout Idaho County’s Mountain View School District failed on Tuesday with 48% of voters supporting the proposal.
According to the district, it will use all of its reserves during the 2023-24 school year, minus the equivalent of four operating weeks. For 2024-25, the levy would was proposed to keep schools operating.
1,527 voted for, 1,650 voted against the supplemental levy.
The proposed tax burden was about $171 per $100,000 in taxable assessed value.
The district includes Clearwater Valley Elementary School, Clearwater Valley Jr/Sr High School, Elk City School, Grangeville Elementary/Middle School and Grangeville High School.
Also on Tuesday, Jon Menough, Tyler Harrington and Laci Myers won their races for Mountain View School District #244 Trustees.
