LEWISTON - The 12th ranked Lewis-Clark State Men's Basketball Team improved to 21-1 on the season and 9-1 in Frontier Conference play after a pair of road wins at MSU-Northern and 8th ranked Providence last weekend. Both wins came in dominating fashion, thus earning the team NABC NAIA Team of the Week honors.
"This is great national recognition for our players and program from the NABC," coach Austin Johnson said. "It's always nice to be recognized for the work you have done and these players have put the team first in everything they have done this year. They've been a blast to coach and we hope there's more great team moments ahead of us this season."
The Warriors held MSU-Northern to just a 33.3% shooting percentage in the nine point victory on Friday, and then made 16 3-pointers in a dominant 96-65 win over the Argos on Saturday. LCSC held both opponents to season lows in point totals and are the only team to sweep the MSU-Northern/Providence road trip so far.
Lewis-Clark State currently leads the NAIA DI in scoring defense per game (62.8), 3-point field goal percentage defense (.291) and 3-point field goal percentage (.448). They are also in the top five in eight other categories and lead the conference in nearly every statistic as a team.
The Warriors will be back home to host 9th ranked Carroll on Friday at 7:30 P.M. before turning around the face Montana Tech Saturday at 7:30 P.M. in the LCSC Activity Center
