MOSCOW - University of Idaho soccer head coach Jeremy Clevenger and his staff have announced the signings of two additional student-athletes. Tara Oper, of Riverside, CA, and Katelyn Sok, of Auburn, WA, will join the team for the 2021-22 year.
Riverside, Calif. | Arlington HS | Legends FC 03 ECNL
Oper plays for Legends FC 03 ECNL. She played one year at Arlington High School, earning Rookie of the Year. She is a four-time scholar athlete and earned the Heart of a Lion Award.
"Tara is a great addition to our roster. She is an attacking player that can play inside and out. Tara plays with a chip on her shoulder. She is extremely hard-working, physical, and can run all day. I think she will cause a lot of problems for opposing defenders." - Jeremy Clevenger
"Tara Oper is a great example of persistence and dedication paying off. Tara has been a blessing to coach. She has always worked hard, invested extra hours into her game, and has always committed to putting the team first. Tara has faced many challenges in her journey, she has responded with hard work, and determination every time. I will never forget her words after I congratulated her for committing. Her response was, 'thanks and please keep yelling at me to keep getting better so I don't settle for where I'm at.' That is who Tara Oper is and that is why she is a success story!" – Andy Placensia, coach of Legends FC
Auburn, Wash. | Thomas Jefferson HS | Pacific Northwest Soccer Club ECNL
Sok plays at Thomas Jefferson High School where she has earned First Team All-League honors three times, while also maintaining a place on the Honor Roll. She scored five goals and had five assists her junior year, and five goals and seven assists the year before. In club, she plays for Pacific Northwest Soccer Club ECNL. She also participated in EPD/OPD from 2014-2019.
"Katelyn is a very talented attacking player and will be a great addition to our program. She is crafty on the ball and good in 1v1 situations. Katelyn is highly productive in front of goal. She has the ability to produce goals on her own but will also create a lot of chances for her teammates." - Jeremy Clevenger
"Katelyn is the type of player who makes soccer so fun to watch. Her craftiness on the ball, focus, and competitiveness mixes perfectly with her happy, infectious personality. We are so very proud of the person and player Katelyn has become and we are so excited that she gets to continue playing the game she loves for Idaho!" – Malia Arrant, coach of Pacific Northwest Soccer Club
