BILLINGS, MT - Travis Yenor, Damek Mitchell and the rest of the thirteenth ranked Lewis-Clark State Men’s Basketball team dominated the court in Billings on Saturday en route to an 87-57 victory over Rocky Mountain College. Yenor scored the seventh-highest point total in program history with 37 points, and Mitchell finished one assist short of a triple double with 18 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists during the blowout win.

“I am really proud of this group for completing the road sweep,” head coach Austin Johnson said. “Rocky is a great team at spacing the floor and putting you into tough matchups, but our guys handled that challenge really well as a team playing together.”

The Warriors kept a slim lead over Rocky in the first half as the Battlin Bears kept answering Lewis-Clark State shots. Yenor hit back-to-back 3s with just over four minutes left in the half to open up a nine point lead. Mitchell joined in with a 3-pointer of his own at 2:53 to stretch the lead to 12. Yenor continued his hot streak with six-straight Warrior points, followed by a 3 from Mitchell, to send LC into the locker room leading 46-29.

After the first 10 minutes, Yenor had totaled 20 points and the team was 12-for-13 from the line.

The Warriors cruised through the second half, outscoring the Bears 41-28 in the last 20 minutes for an 87-57 victory.

Yenor led all scorers with a career-high 37 points. Mitchell, who was one rebound shy of a triple-double yesterday, finished one assist shy tonight with 18 points, 10 boards and nine assists. The pair combined for nine of the team’s 12 3-pointers.

“It was a special night for Damek and Travis, but every guy pitched in one way or another,” Johnson said. “We’ll move on to a really big home stand against two great teams.”

As a team, LC State shot 50 percent from the field (30-60) and held RMC to 35 percent. The Warriors were good on 15-of-18 free throws (83 percent). Every Warrior scored in the contest.

With nine assists tonight, Mitchell now holds sole possession of second all-time in career assists with 374.
