PULLMAN - The Mike Leach era at Washington State is officially over. According to a report from Yahoo Sports Pete Thamel, after coaching on the Palouse for eight seasons, head football coach Mike Leach is now on his way down South to take over the head coaching job at Mississippi State.
This news comes just one day after information leaked that he had interviewed for the position. To some, this move comes as a surprise as Leach signed a contract extension with Washington State less than two months ago.
During his time in Pullman, Leach led the Cougars to 55 wins, including five straight bowl appearances, six in total. Leach will take over for the previously fired Joe Moorhead at Mississippi State.
