SAN FRANCISCO - After a red-hot week at the plate where he hit .667 and had an on-base percentage of .769, Lewiston High School graduate Jake Munoz has been named West Coast Conference (WCC) Baseball Player of the Week for the San Francisco Dons. Munoz, a senior, homered in back-to-back games on Thursday and Friday to help lead his team to a three game sweep of Loyola Marymount, the teams first sweep of LMU in 10 years.
On Thursday, Munoz battled through a ten-pitch at bat before homering to close the teams deficit to 3-2 and help power the Dons' comeback. On Friday, he wasted no time on getting back on the board with his second homer in as many games, crushing the first pitch he saw in the fourth inning to give the Dons a commanding 6-1 lead. On the week, the former Lewiston Bengal had two multi-hit games: Thursday (2 for 4) and Friday (3 for 3), scored runs in all three games, and drew four walks.
Also Nominated for WCC Player of the Week: Sam Brown, Portland; Thomas Luevano, San Diego; Tyler Rando, Gonzaga; Cooper Vest, BYU
