LEWISTON - The Lewis-Clark State Warrior women have yet to take the court against Cascade Collegiate Conference competition, but they have already earned the respect of the rest of the conference. LC State Women’s Basketball was picked to finish first in the Cascade Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, announced by the conference on Tuesday.
The Warriors picked up eight first-place votes for 139 points, edging Bushnell (previously Northwest Christian) by three points. LC State finished the 2019-20 season with an overall record of 21-10. It advanced to the championship game of the Frontier Conference Championship and earned an at-large bid to the NAIA National Tournament before it was canceled.
Against Cascade Conference competition the last two years, the Warriors are 5-1. In 2018-19, they defeated Northwest, Corban and Oregon Tech all on the road before beating Southern Oregon and Eastern Oregon at home last season.
The Warriors open their first season of Cascade Conference play on December 4. They will host Northwest and The Evergreen State College on back-to-back nights.
The non-conference regular season opens with an exhibition contest against Yellowstone Christian on November 6 at 5:30 p.m. in the Activity Center.
