LEWISTON - A day after the Warrior women were picked to take the title in their first Cascade Conference season, the Lewis-Clark State Men’s Basketball Team was picked as the preseason favorite in the conference.
The Warriors are coming off one of the most dominant seasons in program history with a winning percentage of .906 (29-3). LC State picked up seven first-place votes and 139 points in the poll after claiming the Frontier Conference regular-season title and tournament title last season. The Warriors earned an automatic bid into the national tournament as the No. 6 overall seed before the tournament was canceled. LC State has some unfinished business under NABC Coach of the Year Austin Johnson and returns two All-Americans.
LC State finished five points ahead of the College of Idaho (134 points). The Yotes claimed the CCC title last season after going undefeated in conference play. They finished the season with a record of 31-3, with one of their three losses coming against LC State.
Cascade Conference play opens on December 4 when LC State hosts Northwest and the Evergreen State College on back-to-back nights.
The non-conference season begins with an exhibition contest against Yellowstone Christian on November 6 at 7:30 p.m. in the Activity Center.
