DENVER, CO - Gonzaga is moving on. Mark Few and the #3 seeded Bulldogs took down #14 Grand Canyon 82-70 Friday afternoon in the first round of the 2023 Men's NCAA College Basketball Tournament and now advance to the round of 32.
After leading by just 4 at halftime (40-36), the Bulldogs were able to turn the heat up on the Lopes in the second half. Gonzaga was able to balloon their lead up to as many as 22 points at one point in the second half and ultimately cruised to a first round victory.
Gonzaga guard Julian Strawther led all scorers in the contest with 28 points, 16 of which came in the first half. Senior Drew Timme also added 21.
The Bulldogs, who were efficient offensively all night long, shot 53.6% from the field (30-56) and 46.7% from three-point range (7-15).
Next up for Gonzaga (29-5) is a meeting with either #6 TCU or #11 Arizona State in the round of 32 on Sunday.
