LEWISTON – The Lewiston Fire Department responded to a house fire early Tuesday morning.
At 1:03 a.m. the Lewiston Fire Department was dispatched to a reported house fire at 1619 4th Street. First arriving crews found heavy smoke and fire from the attic of the structure.
According to the Lewiston Fire Department, the first arriving officer from Lewiston Police Department was able to make entry into the residence and evacuate the 2 residents. Fire crews arrived and attacked the fire with 2 pre-connected hose lines and the fire was knocked down in about 20 minutes.
Crews remained on scene for an additional 2 hours to check for extension and overhaul the fire.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The estimated damage to the structure and contents is $100,000. There were no injuries.
The Lewiston Fire Department responded with 3 structural engines, 3 ambulances, 4 chief officers and 3 fire inspectors, and received assistance from 1 engine from Clarkston Fire Department. 26 total personnel responded to the fire.
