OLYMPIA - On Tuesday, January 12, 2021, Washington Governor Jay Inslee issued Proclamation 21-01, which temporarily suspends the requirement that statewide elected officials be sworn in ‘at the capitol’.
This waiver allows statewide elected officials to choose to either be sworn in remotely or in person. The order is effective January 12, 2021, and expires at 11:59pm on January 15, 2021.
The proclamation was instated as all counties in Washington state remain in a State of Emergency as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
