COLVILLE, WA – On Monday hand crews were able to complete and secure the fireline at the 423 acre North Mill Creek Fire, near Colville in northeast Washington. Mop up operations continued with measurable progress throughout the day. Hazardous trees were also removed. All of the hard work resulted in a 100% containment level.
However, officials say containment does not mean controlled. Containment means that control line has been completed around the fire (and any associated spot fires). The line can reasonably be expected to stop the fire's spread. There is still work to be done before the fire is considered controlled.
Today, crews are continuing hazard tree assessments and continue mop up and rehabilitation efforts.
