CLARKSTON - Police and medics rushed to the scene of a crash west of Clarkston on US12 just before 5:00 p.m. on Monday.

According to police, 76-year-old Theda Grinwis, of Spokane, was traveling east in a 2017 Ford Edge on US12, about 12 miles west of Clarkston. Grinwis slowed for traffic and was struck from behind by a truck with trailer being driven by 27-year-old Javier Chavez of Granger, Washington.

Grinwis was transported to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston. Specifics on her condition were not provided by police. Chaves was cited for Negligent Driving in the 2nd Degree. Both drivers were wearing a seat belt.

Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.  Police say the Ford Edge was totaled in the crash.
