OLYMPIA - Businesses throughout the state of Washington will be required to refuse service to customers not wearing face coverings, Governor Jay Inslee announced Thursday. This will be effective starting Tuesday, July 7.
This is a statewide expansion of the 'No Mask, No Service" order Inslee place in Yakima County last week.
"Businesses will not be allowed to legally serve customers goods or services unless their patrons are adhering to this requirement and wearing face coverings," Inslee said.
Special exceptions will be made for people with disabilities or health conditions that prohibit them from wearing face coverings, children under the age of 2, and those who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Inslee also announced Thursday that the state is imposing a two-week pause on all county requests to advance to a higher phase of re-opening.
