Lewiston Seeks Input After Infrastructure Bond Falls 154 Votes Short

LEWISTON – Following the recent outcome of its proposed $25 million bond, the City of Lewiston is seeking community feedback to understand the reasons for the bond measure not passing and to inform future infrastructure planning. The bond measure required support from at least 66.67% of voters. The result was 61.82% in favor, which was 154 votes short of the required threshold.

A community survey has been created to gather feedback from Lewiston residents and business owners. Community members are encouraged to provide feedback regardless of whether they participated in the election. The City is reliant on Lewiston residents and the crucial feedback they can provide through this survey. The survey can be accessed from https://survey.zohopublic.com/zs/T7MLQb.

“The City’s job now is to better understand the perspectives of our voters as we move forward in addressing the city’s infrastructure needs,” said Mayor Dan Johnson. “This feedback will help us assess the community’s understanding of the project, priorities, and explore solutions for funding necessary improvements.”

The proposed $25 million bond was intended to fund significant improvements and upgrades to the City’s aging water, sewer, and stormwater underground infrastructure. The City understands the importance of reliable infrastructure for the health and safety of the community and remains committed to finding viable solutions.
