*UPDATE (2/23/22)*
The Lapwai Wildcat Boys Basketball team was once again crowned District Champions after taking down the Kamiah Kubs 84-57 Wednesday night in the 1AD1 District 2 Championship game.
The Wildcat Boys (24-0) have now punched their ticket to state. The two-time defending 1AD1 Champions will look to make it a 3-peat when the tournament kicks off next week in southern Idaho. This year’s 1AD1 state tournament will be held from March 2-4, 2023.
The win is also the 60th consecutive for Head Coach Zachary Eastman and the Wildcat Boys Basketball program dating back to the 2020-21 season.
Meanwhile Kamiah (20-5) will now turn around and face the Potlatch Loggers (17-7) Thursday night with a berth to state on the line.

Lapwai Wildcats and Kamiah Kubs Set to Square Off for District Title (2/22/23)
LEWISTON, ID – The Lapwai Wildcats (23-0) and Kamiah Kubs (20-4) Boys Basketball teams will square off Wednesday night for the third time in two months, this time with the Idaho 1AD1 District 2 title on the line.
Tip-off between the top two seeds in the 1AD1 District 2 Tournament is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. from Lewiston High School in Lewiston, ID.
The winner of Wednesday night’s game will advance to the state tournament, while the losing team will have to turn around and try to earn their spot again Thursday night against the winner of Potlatch/Troy.
In the first meeting this season between the two Whitepine League rivals on January 10, the Wildcats cruised to a 31-point road victory (69-38). When the two teams squared off three weeks later, Kamiah had closed the gap, but it was again the Wildcats coming out on top (72-56).
Now three weeks and one day since their last meeting, the Kubs will hope that gap has closed even further. Kamiah will look to be the first team to hand Lapwai Head Coach Zachary Eastman and the Wildcat Boys team their first loss since the 2020-21 season. The Wildcats win streak currently sits at 59 games and counting.
