OROFINO - Construction on the new Orofino Creek Bridge is continuing on schedule, according to a release put out by Clearwater County. Built in 1960, the current structure of the bridge is load restricted and has reached the end of its service. When completed, the new bridge will be widened and feature two 11-foot lanes and shoulders.
Pilings arrived on Wednesday, July 8, and test drives will begin Wednesday afternoon. Monitors will be set up and if all goes well, the pile driving will start on Thursday, July 9 and go through Saturday or Sunday. This process will generate a lot of noise, and work hours will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
During construction, traffic will have to go around Harmony Heights Loop via the Deer Creek Road side. The project is expected to last approximately 90-days from the June 15 start date, which would put the completion date around September 13. Motorists are encouraged to slow down and pay attention when traveling in this area.
