LEWISTON, ID - Lewiston Police Detectives have arrested 42-year-old Clyde Kenneth Ewing IV, and his 16-year-old son, for First Degree Murder in the case involving the homicide of 31-year-old Samuel R. Johns early last Friday morning. Both suspects were found in Clarkston, according to a Lewiston Police Department press release. Clyde K. Ewing IV was booked into the Asotin County Jail, and his 16-year-old son was booked in the Juvenile Detention Center in Lewiston.
According to police, on January 8, 2021 at approximately 1:41am, two suspects forcefully entered a residence in the 1700 block of 7th Avenue in Lewiston, and moments later Johns was shot. Witnesses advised the subjects fled the residence immediately after the shots were fired.
Lewiston Police Detectives were assisted by the Clarkston Police Department and Quad Cities Drug Task Force in the arrests, and the investigation is continues.
The Lewiston Police Department is still seeking any information and video evidence from the community. The LPD says the suspects traveled from the 800 block of Bridge Street in Clarkston to the 1700 block of 7th Avenue in Lewiston on bicycles the night of the murder. Lewiston Detectives are specifically looking for footage of the suspects riding or walking their bicycles from Clarkston to Lewiston, and then back after the crime was committed. The approximate time frame is 12:35 a.m. to 2:14 a.m. on Friday morning, January 8. The LPD has already received some video, however there are parts of the timeline that are unknown.
