ORIGINAL STORY

On Friday, October 1, 2021 at approximately 3:20am, the Lewiston Police responded to a vehicle fire near Nez Perce Drive, east of Juniper Drive. Upon arrival, officers found a 2007 GMC pickup fully engulfed in flames.

The Lewiston Fire Department responded and extinguished the flames. After the fire was put out, a body was discovered inside the pickup, which prompted Lewiston Police Department detectives to respond and investigate.

At 6:30am, based on information gathered at the vehicle fire scene by detectives, additional Lewiston Police Officers responded to the 1800 block of 12th Avenue as that was determined as a possible address for a subject connected to the burned GMC pickup. Due to the nature of the initial call and information gathered while at both locations, the 1800 block of 12th Avenue was shut down for several hours while Lewiston SWAT members secured the scene. A few hours later, the SWAT team made entry into the house without incident.

The Lewiston Police Department is investigating this incident as a homicide.

Detectives are actively contacting individuals and businesses who may have video in areas of interest to the investigation. These areas include Nez Perce Drive and the 1800 block of 12th Avenue.
