Propane Truck Accident 11.24.21

KOOSKIA - On Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at approximately 12:40pm, the Idaho State Police, Idaho County Sheriff's Office and medical units were dispatched to US Highway 12 for the report of a single vehicle crash involving a propane truck 10 miles east of Kooskia.

According to the ISP, the driver of the propane truck was traveling eastbound on Highway 12 between Syringa and Kooskia when the driver lost control while the truck rounded a corner. The truck hit the embankment causing the truck to tip onto its side before sliding back across both lanes of the highway and down the embankment on the river side.

The driver, identified as a 74-year-old man from Billings, MT, was extricated from the vehicle and transported by ground ambulance to a nearby hospital. He was wearing a seat belt.

Traffic on Highway 12 was blocked in both directions for approximately two hours as emergency responders worked to aid the driver and clear the scene.

This incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
