New Port of Lewiston Commissioner Joseph Anderson

LEWISTON - At a Special Port Commision Meeting held on Monday, January 10, the Port of Lewiston welcomed Joseph Anderson as the new District 2 Port Commissioner. Joe will serve as an appointed Port Commissioner until December 31, 2022.

Joe has been a Lewiston resident since 2017 but has been a Port user as an Idaho wheat, pulse, and oilseed producer since 1983 while he operated the family farm with his brother Jay. They are the fourth generation to operate the original homestead.

Joe earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Economics and a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Mechanization from the University of Idaho. Advocacy and testifying for the Port of Lewiston and the Snake River transportation system is something Joe has been involved with since 1994. Joe currently serves as an Idaho Wheat Commissioner.

In his spare time, he and his wife Leslie enjoy spending time with friends, visiting new places and recreating in the great outdoors as whitewater enthusiasts, having floated the Lochsa, Clearwater, Salmon and Snake rivers, as well as just completing a 21-day trip on the Colorado River through most of the Grand Canyon in November 2021.

Joe fills in the District 2 Port Commissioner position that was held by previously Mary Hasenoehrl.

Mary has served as District 2 Port Commissioner since 2011 and resigned effect December 31, 2021. She is a former Regional Director for Senator Mike Crapo and was Lewis Clark State College’s Director of Advancement and Executive Director of the College Foundation. Mary represented the Port on the Urban Renewal Agency Board of Directors.
