LEWISTON - After receiving more than 700 entries from students across Idaho in grades K-6, State Superintendent Sherri Ybarra and the judges have picked their winners for each grade in the State Department of Education’s annual holiday card contest.
Out of all of the entries that were submitted, this year’s third and fourth-grade winners came from Lewiston. The fourth-grade winner was Elle Walker, who attends McSorley Elementary. The third-grade winner was Kaelynn Simmons, who attends Whitman Elementary.
Over recent years, Lewiston School District students have excelled in the holiday card contest. In 2018, the sixth-grade winner came from Lewiston. In 2017, the first- and third-grade winners hailed from Lewiston. And, in 2015, overall winner Ashlynn Baldus attended Lewiston’s Orchards Elementary, according to a review of five years’ worth of SDE holiday card contest press releases.
