LEWISTON - At a special board meeting Monday morning, the Lewiston-Nez Perce County Regional Airport announced the addition of flights to Denver.
The new flights will be operated under contract with Skywest Airlines. Skywest is also a provider of current flights to and from Lewiston for Delta Airlines.
Denver is a hub for United. Flights from Lewiston to and from Denver will begin on October 5. This service will include prime time flights including a 6:15 a.m. departure and 8:45 p.m. arrival. Tickets are on sale now.
United offers non-stop flights from Denver to 185 destinations.
"We wanted viable air service," said Committee Chairman Gary Peters. "We paid a lot of attention on where we wanted to go. We prioritized what route we wanted with what carrier in order to really elevate the community. We know where our folks are going, we've studied routes, we know what's going to benefit people. We are very happy and this is going to be a big change in our community."
