KENDRICK - Just before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, emergency crews were called to a crash on State Highway 3, at milepost 10.2, between Juliaetta and Kendrick.
According to the Idaho State Police, a gray 2011 Hyundai Elantra, driven by a juvenile, was traveling south on the highway when they crossed left of center. The juvenile collided with a silver 2004 Dodge Ram pickup traveling north, driven by 66-year-old Douglas Egeland Clarkston. Egeland's vehicle came to rest in the middle of the roadway and the juvenile's vehicle came to rest off the southbound shoulder.
The juvenile succumbed to injuries at the scene. Egeland was transported with non-life-threatening injuries to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston. Traffic on Highway 3 was blocked for approximately five hours. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. The incident investigation is ongoing.
