BOISE - From Coeur d'Alene to Twin Falls, Rexburg to Boise, crowds of protesters made national headlines as they gathered in various cities throughout Idaho on Saturday, and in front of the Idaho State Capitol building, for "Burn The Mask" rallies. The events were intended to protest various local mask mandates enacted around the state.
According to the Idaho State Police, over 100 people gathered on the steps of the Idaho State Capitol Saturday morning for the permitted event, but open flames are never allowed on the State Capitol Grounds. Police say the incident is under review, but that organizers were warned before and during the event that open flames are not permitted.
On their website, a group called "Free Idaho" claimed to have organized 28 "burn sites" around Idaho for Saturday.
