WINCHESTER - The Idaho Department of Fish and Game’s 'Take Me Fishing' Trailer will be stopping by Winchester Lake this Saturday, May 27 from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Take Me Fishing trailers travel to local waters around the state and are loaded with loaner fishing rods, tackle, bait and staffed by experienced anglers. IDFG provides all the equipment, bait and instruction to help new anglers get into the sport.
This is a great opportunity to enjoy some free fishing as no fishing license is required while the fishing trailer is on site.
Wrapped with vibrant fish illustrations, they're hard to miss. IDFG staff will help those new to angling get started – from casting instructions to baiting hooks. The idea is to make the equipment and instruction available to children who do not have a family tradition of fishing.
"The goal is to get kids excited about fishing," said Evin Oneale, Fish and Game conservation educator. "We've got a serious situation around the country right now where kids are not getting outside as much as they could, and fishing is a great way to get kids introduced to the outdoors."
Before and after the event, fish licenses are required for anyone 14 years of age and older.
