LEWISTON - On Thursday, October 7, 2021, the Lewiston Police Department (LPD) and the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office (ICSO) issued a joint statement saying both agencies are working together to actively investigate two possible homicides that occurred on September 30 and October 1 in Grangeville and Lewiston.
On September 30, 2021, a homicide occurred in Idaho County. Deputies responded to a residence on Cove Road, just outside of Grangeville where inside they found the body of a 76-year-old woman. An autopsy confirmed the cause of death to be homicidal violence. For more on that story, click HERE.
On October 1st, 2021, a body was found in a burned vehicle in Lewiston. The cause of death in that case has not been determined and the body has not been positively identified, but the case is being investigated as a homicide by LPD. For more on that story, click HERE.
Due to the timeframe and other similarities in the cases, investigators from both agencies are sharing information and partnering to resolve these crimes. The agencies say they understand the public wants information and answers, however specific information is still being withheld from the public as the agencies collaborate and actively investigate these crimes.
