KELLOGG, ID - After three avalanches at Silver Mountain Resort, near Kellogg, were reported to the Shoshone County Sheriff's Office just past 11:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, emergency responders coordinated a rescue effort at the ski resort. According to the Sheriff's Office, five individuals were rescued and survived, two others died.  The identity of the victims has not been released. Search crews from the Silver Mountain Ski Patrol, Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue and Shoshone County Volunteer Search and Rescue all participated in rescue efforts, finding the final victim Tuesday evening. It had been initially reported to the region's 911 Communications Center that possibly just three people had been trapped in the avalanche area.  Just past 8:00 a.m Tuesday morning, the Idaho Panhandle Avalanche Center in Sandpoint issued a Backcountry Avalanche Warning saying recent heavy snow combined with wind would result in widespread avalanches throughout a large portion of north Idaho.
