WARREN - Just past 1:00 p.m. Monday, the Idaho County Sheriff's Office Dispatch Center received a report of an airplane crash near Warren, in rural Idaho County. The crash also sparked a wildfire. Warren is located about 30 miles east of Riggins.
The plane crashed northeast of the Warren airport, near the Slaughter Creek drainage. Dispatch was advised the plane was on fire and the fire had spread into the trees. They were also advised there were two patients needing medical attention.
According to the Idaho County Sheriff's Office, Life Flight was dispatched out of Boise and Ontario, Oregon and met with Forest Service personnel at the Warren Airport where 2 patients were picked up and transported to a hospital.
The FAA is overseeing the investigation, and the Forest Service was on scene fighting the fire Monday afternoon.
According to additional details released Tuesday afternoon from the Idaho County Sheriff's Office, the airplane, a red and white Cessna 182, was occupied by Gary and Amy Haass, unknown ages or hometown. They were reportedly flying from Wassila, Alaska to an unknown destination in Idaho.
