LEWISTON, ID - Most of the inland northwest remains under a National Weather Service Heat Advisory until tonight, with temperatures well over 100 for many. The NWS has added a Red Flag Warning and Air Quality Alert to parts of the region. The Red Flag Warning, which includes Asotin County, goes into effect at noon today and does not expire until 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The NWS says thunderstorms with abundant lightning is likely across the region the next few days. A low pressure system will bring several rounds of thunderstorms to the area. Scattered storms are likely Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday afternoon and evening. More widespread showers and storms are expected Saturday but this activity is forecast to be accompanied by abundant rainfall. An Air Quality Alert, due to wildfire smoke and elevated pollutant levels, has been issued for areas that include Plummer, Tensed, Sandpoint, Coeur d`Alene, Post Falls, Hayden, Worley, and Wallace.
