WAHA - On Tuesday, August 4, Nez Perce County deputies responded to a call on Soldier's Meadows Road of a cabin owner who had located 49-year-old Jerry Edward Glass, of Spokane, in his cabin. Glass was wanted after a pursuit that began in Whitman County a few days prior, where Glass reportedly crashed the stolen vehicle he was driving in the Waha area and fled on foot.
The cabin owner, 56-year-old Daren M. McCann, of Lewiston, advised he went to check on his cabin and confronted Glass inside his cabin. While walking to get cell service to call the Sheriff's Office, McCann said Glass pushed him and ran into the woods, McCann said he then shot at Glass, who was fleeing into the woods. Glass was later found deceased from a bullet wound.
McCann was taken into custody for 2nd Degree Murder and is being housed at the Nez Perce County Adult Detention Center.
