BOISE - After an overwhelming initial response, the Idaho State Board of Education reopened the Strong Families, Strong Students application portal on Wednesday November 25, and the application period will once again close on Friday, December 4.
Idaho's Strong Families, Strong Students Initiative provides funds for school aged children to assist with the additional education expenses caused by the events related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Any student is eligible regardless of school type attended: Public, Charter, Private or Home-School, who have been impacted by a COVID-19-related full or partial Idaho school closure or the parent or guardian of a home schooled student who experienced a COVID-19-related employment disruption.
Eligible families can receive $1,500 per student, up to a maximum award of $3,500 per family. The grant dollars that can be used to purchase educational goods and services that their families decide their students need, such as computers and technology, paying for internet access, instructional materials, fees for courses, tutoring services and educational services.

While all Idaho school-aged students are eligible, awarding will be done in waves prioritized by the families Adjusted Gross Income. All families will be notified before December 30th, 2020.
Wave 1: Families with an adjusted gross income (AGI) less than or equal to $50,000.
Wave 2: Families with an adjusted gross income (AGI) less than or equal to $75,000.
Wave 3: Families with an adjusted gross income (AGI) less than or equal to $100,000.
Wave 4: All families.
