LEWISTON - At the Lewiston City Council meeting on Monday, July 6, City of Lewiston Manager Alan Nygaard announced that he has devised a draft for a proposal to mandate wearing masks in the city of Lewiston.
Nygaard stated he has heard from people on both sides of the issue, and understands there is pressure from both sides on requiring or not requiring masks.
Some council members suggested the proposal be added to the next meeting agenda set for Monday, July 13. Nygaard can implement the action prior to Monday if he chooses, but the decision would have to be upheld by the Council.
Cities like Boise, McCall and Moscow have already implemented similar mandates in the State of Idaho. As of this writing, Nez Perce County had a total of 91 confirmed COVID-19 cases.
