IDAHO – The Idaho Fish and Game will soon open a public comment period for proposed changes to 2023 and 2024 deer, elk, pronghorn, black bear, mountain lion and wolf seasons.
This year’s public comment period will be open from February 8 – February 22, 2023. Season proposals will be available for review and comment on the IDFG website in early February. The website provides a convenient way for people to review the proposals and provide their comments without having to travel to an open house.
“Public comments to the proposed changes are needed to address concerns and improve management of wildlife in Lemhi and Custer counties,” said Dennis Newman, Salmon regional wildlife manager.
Hunters near Challis and Salmon, ID are encouraged to attend an open house on February 9-10 to review the proposals and provide their comments.
- Thursday, February 9 (4:00 – 7:00 pm) – Challis, ID – Challis Community Event Center, 411 Clinic Road
- Friday, February 10 (4:00 – 7:00 pm) – Salmon, ID – Salmon Regional Office, 99 Hwy. 93 North
All comments received online and at either open house will be summarized and presented to the Idaho Fish and Game Commission prior to their March 16 meeting in Boise when final seasons will be set.
The Idaho Fish and Game Commission sets the big game seasons every two years.
