Big Country’s Pet of the Week

Each week we shine a spotlight on animals at local shelters that are looking for their forever home.

This week’s Big Country Pets of the Week is Hattie.

Hattie

Hattie is waiting to meet her new family at the Humane Society of the Palouse. Her holiday wish is to find her forever home! Hattie is a mixed breed, approximately 5 years old, has short hair, and is medium sized, around 36 lbs, and spayed. Described by shelter staff as energetic, affectionate, goofy, friendly, mouthy, and excited.

Hattie is looking for a home with no cats or small animals. However, she would love to have a canine brother or sister in her new home! Hattie gets along well with other dogs and would likely benefit from having another pup to keep her company. As with all dog adoptions, Hattie will be required to meet any dogs in the home prior to leaving HSoP.

Hattie originally came to HSoP as a very timid stray, and has made leaps and bounds in her time here! Hattie now makes friends with ease, and is much more calm when she’s away from the loud barking inside the dog kennels. Hattie loves to run! She’s practically burned a track into her outdoor kennel, and loves any opportunity to run at full speed. She enjoys going on walks, and our volunteers say she has excellent leash manners!

One challenge for Hattie is potty training. We aren’t sure that she’s ever lived inside before, and she’s consistently struggled with having accidents in her kennel. The right owner for Hattie will be patient and understanding of this challenge, and willing to do what it takes to help her learn. Hattie loves spending time with her people and would be happy to accompany you on any outdoor adventures! She’s very affectionate and can be quite snuggly when she isn’t burning off some energy.

To meet Hattie, contact the Humane Society of the Palouse, at 2019 E White Ave., Moscow, Idaho 83843. 208) 883-1166  or Information@humanesocietyofthepalouse.org. Dog kennels are open 1:00-5:00pm Monday through Saturday with no appointments necessary.
