This week’s Big Country Pets of the Week is Dax.
Dax
Dax is waiting to meet his new family at the Humane Society of the Palouse. He is a fully-grown labrador retriever mix. Dax is probably around 2 years old, will soon be neutered, and weighs 67lbs. Described by shelter staff as excited, friendly, smart, loyal, and playful.
At around 2 years old, Dax would likely thrive in a home with owners who give him the daily exercise and mental stimulation he needs. Dax loves to play with toys and chase balls around, and is always happy to go on a walk! He knows how to sit on command and take treats gently when asked. He is a pretty big dog at nearly 70lb, and doesn’t always realize the force he carries. Dax seems to make new friends with ease, especially when treats are involved. Dax would love to join a home or family where he can expect yummy treats, exciting outings, and praise for the good boy he is. He enjoys spending time with people and can be quite affectionate when he isn’t busy chasing a ball around. Dax arrived at HSoP as a stray so we aren’t sure how he behaves around cats or other dogs. We do offer a seven-day foster period with each adoption, and Dax will be required to meet any dogs in the home prior to leaving HSoP. Dax cannot go home until he’s neutered on December 4th, but he’s happy to make friends and accept applications in the meantime!

Reminder that HSoP is hosting its annual Pet Pictures with Santa fundraiser on Friday, December 1, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, December 2, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Moscow Pets Are People Too Store, located at 428 Troy Rd in Moscow. All healthy and well-behaved pets are welcome to attend. The cost is $15 for two digital images and all proceeds benefit HSoP.
